GK-PON was established in the year 4th Feb. 2004 with the group of 10 PHA after a long illness of some members.  These 10 PHA decided to come out and declared their HIV/AIDS status, by that time stigma and discrimination was too much.

The people were suspecting themselves because access to VCT was limited and difficult due to the prevailing LRA [Lord Resistant Army] insurgency. However the PHA managed to convince the other10 members who were also suspecting them to join the group hence 20 founder members originated.

The group of PHA held several meetings and decided to form a network now called GWOKKE KENI PHA AND OVC NETWORK with the major aim to fight against new HIV infections, stigma and discrimination and also to counsel their fellow PHA to come out and join the HIV fight and live positively.

The main focus for Gwokke Keni PHA and OVC Network over the next five years will focus on addressing the drivers of new HIV infections, stigma and discrimination, poor adherence to drug to achieve goal of zero new HIV infections, zero AIDS related deaths, and zero stigma and discrimination. GK-PON will also focus on cross cutting issues such as environmental perfection, education for all, and livelihood for PWD, PHA and OVC, human rights protection, gender equality, governance and accountability and skills trainings for self reliance.
